
Spring Run School and the Center for Educational Advancement will present a free public workshop at 6:30 p.m. on March 17, 2011 at Spring Run School, 11 Minneakoning Road, Raritan Township titled "Guardianship Law for People with Disabilities & Their Families" to be conducted by Evelina Padilla, Esq. of Hinkle, Fingles & Prior Attorneys At Law.
Evelina E.G. Padilla is dedicated to providing legal representation to persons with disabilities and their families. She has experience in special education, children’s issues, public entitlements and a broad range of administrative issues. For two years, she served as a law clerk for the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law.
She served as a clinical law student at the Rutgers Newark Special Education Clinic. As a Governor’s Executive Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics, she worked at the New Jersey Department of Education, Legislative Services, reviewing and monitoring legislation. She holds a JD from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark. She is a member of the New Jersey, New York and Florida bars. She is proficient in Spanish.
During the 2010-2011 school year Spring Run School and the Center for Educational Advancement will be offering a series of free workshops designed for parents of students with special needs. Parents, students and others in the education and social services fields are invited to attend. (Seating is limited-please register early.)
Workshops will be held at CEA and Spring Run School, Flemington, NJ.
A Question & Answer session will follow all presentations. Child specific questions will be encouraged. Light refreshments and fare in the theme of St. Patrick's Day will be served by The CEA Cafe'.
This is just one presentation in the Speaker Series of public workshops for parents of students with special needs and those that serve the special needs community. Professional credit hours will be offered to educational professionals. Spring Run School is a State of NJ approved private secondary special education school that provides a therapeutic learning environment for special needs students. The Center for Educational Advancement (CEA), a not-for-profit organization in Flemington, NJ, providing Training, Placement and Employment opportunities to people with disabilities. CEA also offers the Transition from School to Work/Adulthood program to the students of Spring Run School.
